Pathos in GoldieBlox

The GoldieBlox ad evokes pathos by appealing to women.  The ad features a can do spirit that women can be engineers and scientists.  By displaying the little girls running past the young boys determined with a plan to build something singing "right now's our time" really encourages women to dream big.  The lyrics work really well with the motion of the kids to promote a can do attitude for women.

  1. I would agree that the GoldieBlox commercial strongly appeals to pathos. It encourages the viewer to dream and imagine what they can accomplish.

  2. I agree with your analysis that GoldieBlox appeals to pathos. The ad makes women feel empowered by showing the girls being capable and confident. It is crazy how drastically different this is than the ad from the 60's that your group has chosen. The women are no longer the ones being viewed as incapable, which is very different than an ad about women not even being able to drive.

  3. Although I agree that this advertisement appeals to women, I feel as if it could also appeal to men. This advertisement tells men that women are no longer inferior or weak, and could evoke a range of emotions from men (including anger, relief, or even fear).

  4. I also agree that this advertisement also appeals to men, to show that women are no longer inferior.
